Cool Portal: white-label online ordering for ice companies

Summary

Cool Running Software, in Ohio, runs routes, deliveries and invoicing for ice companies. Its founder ran an ice company for thirty years.

Stores still ordered ice by phone and text, and dispatchers typed every order in by hand. Cool Running wanted each of its ice companies to have its own online store, under its own name, that fed orders straight into the routes.

What we did

Licence portal

• An ice company signs in with its Cool Running account
• Sets up the company, its logo, colour and subdomain, and turns its store on
• Dashboard, pending orders, accept or reject with a reason, store registrations and support

Customer portal

• On the ice company's own subdomain, in its colours and logo
• Stores sign up with an email code and link their store by a receipt
• Order, restock, track and cancel; support requests built in

Connected to Cool Running

• Products, prices, surcharges and sales tax come live from Cool Running
• Orders land in Cool Running ready for routing

Built to scale

• One codebase serves every ice company
• A 91-endpoint API on AWS Lambda, Aurora PostgreSQL and order emails through Amazon SES
